Dr. G.K. Vijayaraghavan, B.E, M.Tech. (IIT-Madras), Ph.D, completed his Diploma in Mechanical engineering and later obtained Bachelor of Mechanical engineering from Madras University. He completed Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering specialised in Machine design at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. During his project phase of the Masters’ studies, he focused on non-destructive testing and evaluation of composites and gained direct insight in the manufacturing and testing processes. He completed PhD in Mechanical Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, India, specialised in Infrared thermography NDT of Composite pipes.
He has more than 15 years of experience in academic field. He currently serves as a Principal at Cauvery College of Engineering and Technology, Perur, Tiruchirapalli. Before assuming charge to the present post, he has worked as Vice-Principal and Professor at Roever Engineering College, Perambalur. He started his teaching career in undergraduate studies at the Department of Mechanical engineering, Mailam Engineering college, India and has served in different institutions including Kongu Engineering College, Erode; Caledonian College of Engineering, Sultanate of Oman. During his 7 years tenure in Caledonian College of Engineering, he occupied many distinct positions such as Academic Council member, member of Programme Board, Program Leader for Engineering Design program, Program development coordinator for Automobile Engineering program, Chief coordinator for Students Performance Mentoring System, etc.
He is the author of about 17 scientific publications, including journal and conference papers in the field of non-destructive testing of composites and other structures. He is also in the editorial board member of 3 international journals and reviewed many journal papers. He obtained Level 2 certification for Infrared Thermographic Testing method from the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). He is a member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and the Indian Society for Nondestructive Testing (ISNT).
